24-hour emergency

Power gone? Burning smell? Call now.

If you can smell burning, or a socket is hot

  1. Switch the main breaker off at the panel if you can reach it safely.
  2. Do not run water anywhere near it and do not touch anything scorched.
  3. Open a window and get everyone out of that room.
  4. Call us. If there is smoke or you can see flame, call 911 first.

What counts as an emergency

A burning smell, a hot or scorched outlet, sparking, water reaching anything electrical, or a total loss of power that is not the utility company's fault. Those we come out for at any hour.

Half the house dark, one dead circuit, or a breaker that trips occasionally is usually not an emergency. It is unpleasant, and we will get to it quickly — but it will cost you less at the standard rate tomorrow morning, and we would rather tell you that than charge you the night rate.

Before you call, check one thing

Look at your neighbors. If their lights are out too, it is the utility company and there is nothing an electrician can do — you would be paying us to tell you that.

Right now

Out of hours you get a cell phone, not a machine.

It rings whoever is on call. If it goes to voicemail it means they are under someone else's floor — leave a message and you will get a call straight back.
